The Certificate in Contemporary Thought: Philosophy and Political Thought arises from the need to create a space for study, debate, and reflection on contemporary thought.
The Certificate in Contemporary Thought is designed to be the first step to admission to the Masters Programme in Contemporary Thought offered by the IDH. For this reason, students admitted to the Certificate programme share the curriculum with the Masters students, and credits for seminars completed in the Certificate programme can be transferred when the student is admitted to the Masters programme.
Students entering the Certificate programme will be exposed to three areas of study: Social Theory, Political Thought, and Philosophy. The study of these areas proceeds via three components: history of ideas, analysis of concepts and problems, and reflection on the present.
