  • PhD in Philosophy

    1- How can I apply?

    First, you must send the required documentation, within the stipulated period for admission, detailed here.

    Documents must be sent in digital form to the academic coordination: [email protected] .

    Then, if you are accepted, you must complete your application by registering on the University’s postgraduate site, clicking where it says “Register here” and filling in the form with your data.

    2- Can I deliver the documentation for the application physically?

    No, all documentation is delivered digitally to the email of the academic coordination.

    3- Is it necessary to have the required certification in English when applying?

    Yes. A certificate of a level of oral and written competence is requested in English (through TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate or another) or in some other relevant foreign language (German, French or Italian), suitable for development and culmination of the thesis.

    4- Is the programme accredited to apply for state scholarships?

    Yes, the PhD in Philosophy is accredited for two years, from June 27, 2018 to June 27, 2020 (Accreditation extended according to Exempt Resolution DJ No. 140-4), which allows applying for fee scholarships and maintenance offered by the National Research and Development Agency, ANID (former CONICYT).

    5- Does the programme require full-time dedication?

    Yes.

    6- Are there internal scholarships? Is it mandatory to apply for ANID scholarships?

    Yes. The UDP offers a maximum of two scholarships each year that cover the full fee and living expenses for a monthly amount of CLP $ 650,000, during the four years of the Programme. To obtain the UDP scholarship, applicants must be accepted into the Doctorate. Scholarships are awarded to students listed in the first two places in the order of merit upon admission. But doctoral students must also apply for the ANID Grant (EX Conicyt) and, to support them in their application, the General Directorate for Research and Doctorates annually conducts a workshop with students accepted into the doctoral programs of the UDP. In this workshop, the application bases and general criteria that students must take into account when completing their background are reviewed.
