The Institute of Philosophy of Universidad Diego Portales (Santiago, Chile) invites applications for a full-time and permanent position with Call for applications Full-time position Institute of Philosophy  Universidad Diego Portales

specialization in modern or contemporary philosophy (19th and 20th centuries) and, more specifically, in one of the following areas: political philosophy, aesthetics, philosophy of law, critical theory, psychoanalysis, aesthetics, hermeneutics, philosophy of history, or related areas. The start date of the position is March 1, 2023.

 

  1. Responsibilities to be carried out

 

The main responsibilities of the position are:

  1. a) Teach four courses per year, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  2. b) Publish in indexed journals (at least 1 article per year in a journal indexed in Web of Science)

and lead research projects with national or international funding;

  1. c) Perform the usual administrative duties, such as the coordination of study programs or research groups and the organization of outreach activities.

3.1 Application requirements

  1. a) To hold a PhD in philosophy from a renowned Chilean or foreign university;
  2. b) To have publications in indexed and internationally recognized journals (in the last 4 years, at least 4 articles indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, or equivalent, or books published with renowned academic publishers);
  3. c) To be carrying out or to have carried out in the last 4 years, as the principal researcher, a competitive research project (possibly a postdoctoral project);
  4. d) To speak Spanish or to assume the commitment to acquire, within a year, sufficient command of Spanish to be able to teach in this language;
  5. e) Desirable but not a must: to have supervised master’s and doctoral theses.

 

3.2 The applicant should submit the following documents:

  1. a) A curriculum vitae, preceded by a summary that shows clearly that the applicant fulfills the above requirements;
  2. b) A copy of the doctoral degree;
  3. c) A cover letter that indicates the applicant’s lines of research;
  4. d) Proof of at least 4 indexed publications (DOIs or letters of acceptance for publication);
  5. e) A sample publication;
  6. f) Proof of carrying out or having carried out in the last 4 years, as the principal researcher, a competitive research project (letter of grant award);
    g) Proof of received awards and distinctions (letters of award), if applicable;
  7. h) Two letters of recommendation from specialists in the required field (modern or contemporary philosophy).

  1. Selection process

The selection process will involve the following phases:

  1. a) Selection of shortlisted candidates on the basis of the submitted documents; applicants who do not fulfill the requirements listed above or have not submitted all the required documents will be excluded at this stage;
  2. b) Interviews with shortlisted candidates, possibly via Skype or Zoom (December 15–16, 2022);
  3. c) Selection of the candidate and notification of the result (December 30, 2022).
